I just tried this unsuccessfully. I'm running Freebsd 4.7 and my world
is in sync with my kernel source. When I hit the hotsync button, my
computer recognizes the palm as ugen0, not ucom0. So I tried changing
everything from ucom0 to ugen0 and all that did was cause a kernel
panic. I also tried recompiling my kernel without "device   ugen" and it
didn't recognize my palm at all when I hit the hotsync button.

Although there are a couple of things which I was unsure about while
going throught these steps.

1. On my palm, there is no "select service" button under the hotsync
icon, it's in prefs. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out (he
admits sheepishly).

2. The ip address... can I use 10.0.1.30 on any computer? I mean, is it
only for this particular connection between palm and pc, and doesn't
have anything to do with my internet connection... because I have a dhcp
connection, so if I can't, how do I work around the dhcp issue?
