In "daemon mode" I can sync without problems the first two or three times, after that I am still able to sync but when the sync shall finish, my Palm Vx loses its connection to coldsync and I end up with a error message on the palm saying that "all data could not be backed up". However, it seems like it backs up all data and when it shall close the connection it loses contact with coldsync. The coldsync log says "connection to palm lost".

Ditto. If I run it with -v -v the connection appears to be losing it
when it reaches the dump stage. The problem appears to be happening
when I'm installing something new/big(?).

Cheers.
